The Endocrinology and Diabetes SCE is on 11 November 2026. The next scheduled sitting is 10 November 2027. If you are preparing for the November exam, the first thing to check is your booking: the 2026 application window has already closed.
This guide covers the UK Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes. It is a different assessment from the endocrinology component of MRCP Part 1, which we cover in our MRCP Part 1 endocrinology guide.

Endocrinology SCE exam dates and deadlines
The Federation currently lists the following dates. Application windows open and close at 08:00 UK local time; the closing date does not mean the end of that day.

Can I still apply for November 2026?
As of this update, the application deadline has passed. The Federation states that applications outside its published window are not accepted. If you have not applied, plan around the next scheduled sitting rather than assuming that buying a revision course secures an exam place.
If you have already applied, check your examination correspondence and candidate account for your booking details. Put your study leave, travel arrangements and revision sessions into your calendar now. If anything about your booking is unclear, contact the examination team directly.
The official dates and fees page also states that UK and international SCEs move to in-centre delivery from June 2026. November candidates should prepare for a test-centre sitting.
What is the exam format?
The examination has two computer-based papers on the same day. Each contains 100 best-of-five questions and lasts three hours, with a one-hour break between papers. That gives you an average of 108 seconds per question before allowing time to review answers. See the Federation’s format guidance.
Practise pacing over a sustained block. It is easy to feel comfortable answering ten questions at home and still find a full paper tiring. Build up gradually, then rehearse the two-paper day when your rota allows.
Reserve a separate session to review a mock. A three-hour paper can expose useful gaps, but the learning comes from working through the decisions you missed.
How should I use the remaining time?
Start with a realistic weekly timetable, then check that it reaches every area of the syllabus. Keep a short record of recurring errors and use mixed questions to see whether you can recognise the topic without a chapter heading prompting you.

Is there another sitting shortly after November?
The current schedule lists the next sitting on 10 November 2027. Do not assume a spring sitting will be available.
When are results expected?
The specialty page gives an expected release interval of six weeks after the exam. Check the Federation’s announcements for the actual release.
Does a revision subscription include exam registration?
No. Arrange your examination application through the Federation. A study resource is a separate purchase.
