Endocrinology SCE pass mark and pass rates — Revision Pro

The latest official Endocrinology and Diabetes SCE report gives a passing score of 462. For the 2025 sitting, that corresponded to 62%, or 124 correct answers out of 200. The raw percentage for a future sitting should not be assumed to stay at 62%.

Three figures often get mixed together: the scaled passing score, the raw percentage needed in a particular sitting and the proportion of candidates who pass. Keeping them separate makes the statistics much more useful.

Official information checked on 8 September 2026; the figures below describe the 2025 examination.

What is the Endocrinology SCE pass mark?

The Federation’s 2025 examination report states that the passing score increased from 432 to 462 following a standards review in February 2022. It says 462 will remain the passing score until the examination board reviews the standard again.

The Federation uses equating to account for differences in examination difficulty. As its pass-marks explanation describes, the percentage of questions needed to reach the passing standard can change between sittings. The 2025 raw threshold is historical information, not a confirmed raw threshold for November 2026.

What was the 2025 pass rate?

Reported measure 2025 result
All candidates 474
Overall pass rate 40.1%
UK resident doctors’ cohort 152 candidates; 58.6% pass rate

The report’s UK cohort uses self-declared training information and excludes the “OTH” group. Its “Other candidates” category includes candidates without declared training details and the OTH group; it should not simply be relabelled “international doctors”. All figures in this table come from the official report linked above.

What do these numbers mean for my revision?

A cohort pass rate describes that group in that sitting. It does not give your personal probability of passing, and it cannot tell you how many weeks you need to prepare. Your starting knowledge, available time and unresolved gaps matter more when planning next week’s work.

Use the figures as context for taking preparation seriously. Then return to information you can act on: which topics you have covered, which decisions you repeatedly miss and whether you can maintain your pace through a full paper.

Revision tip

A rising overall average can conceal a neglected topic. Keep a short topic checklist beside your score record, and make room for areas that have received little practice.

What score should I aim for in a question bank?

There is no reliable universal percentage that converts a commercial question-bank result into an SCE pass. Banks differ in difficulty, topic mix and the familiarity of their questions. A repeat score and a first-attempt score also measure different things.

Track unfamiliar mixed questions separately, review uncertain correct answers, and look for recurring patterns over several sessions. If a result is disappointing, decide whether the issue was missing knowledge, misreading, choosing between two options or running out of time. Each calls for a different adjustment.

Our question-bank selection guide explains what to look for in a resource, while the syllabus and blueprint guide helps you check breadth of coverage.

If you are preparing for a resit

Start with your official feedback before rebuilding the timetable. The Federation’s candidate-feedback guidance explains the overall and topic-level information available through MyMRCP(UK), and recommends discussing it with a supervisor.

Combine that feedback with your own account of the day. A topic percentage alone may not explain whether the difficulty came from knowledge, interpretation or timing. Turn the discussion into a few specific changes you can test during revision.

Frequently asked questions

Is 62% the confirmed pass mark for 2026?

No. It was the raw threshold reported for 2025. Check the official report for the sitting concerned before quoting a raw percentage.

Does the overall pass rate predict my result?

No. It describes a previous cohort. Use your coverage, unfamiliar-question performance and feedback to identify useful next steps.
