Meet Your Instructors
Dr Rida Abbasi
Dr. Rida Abbasi is a resident doctor currently practising in the North West of England. An international medical graduate from Europe, she has first-hand experience of the FY2 Standalone process and the challenges it entails. Having successfully navigated the system herself — and achieving the top percentile amongst all applicants in the Situational Judgement Test — Dr. Abbasi is uniquely placed to guide others through this competitive process.
In addition to her medical training, Dr. Abbasi holds a BA in Religions and Theology, giving her a strong foundation in ethical reasoning — a personal passion that deeply informs her approach to the SJT. Her academic and professional background gives her a distinctive ability to interpret complex moral scenarios and apply GMC principles with clarity and confidence.
Dr. Abbasi has led numerous workshops focused on medical ethics and SJT preparation, helping candidates understand how to think like a UK-trained doctor. She now brings this expertise to a wider audience through this course — combining high-level insight, personal experience, and a commitment to helping others succeed, secure a place in the NHS, and take the next step in their clinical careers with confidence.

Dr Syed Mujtaba Hasnain Nadir
Dr. Syed Mujtaba Hasnain Nadir is a Consultant Hepatologist currently practising in Lancashire, North West England. Having successfully navigated multiple specialty training pathways — completing training in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, and Clinical Informatics — Dr. Nadir brings unparalleled insight into the complexities of medical training and career progression in the NHS.
His journey through the North West Deanery and advanced training at the Cambridge Liver Transplant Unit has given him extensive experience of the interview process from both sides of the table. As a regular interviewer for Medical and Dental admissions at the University of Manchester and for Gastroenterology Specialty Training positions, he understands exactly what interviewers are looking for in successful candidates.
During his own training, Dr. Nadir held several prestigious national leadership roles including BSG Trainee Representative and North West School of Medicine Trainee Representative. These positions have given him deep insight into the values and competencies the NHS seeks in its future leaders — knowledge he now shares with those preparing for their own career advancement.
As an award-winning educator and Honorary Tutor at the University of Manchester, Dr. Nadir has taught countless trainees through commercial PACES courses and medical school programs. He now brings this expertise to guide candidates through SJT scenarios and FY2 interviews — combining clinical excellence, educational mastery, and genuine commitment to helping others secure their place in the NHS and advance their medical careers with confidence.
Dr Callum Wood
Dr Callum Wood is a Consultant Hepatologist and Clinical Lead for Liver Services at his hospital site in Lancashire, where he is developing a holistic and comprehensive service that spans disease prevention through to the management of decompensated disease. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, he completed specialist hepatology training at leading UK centres in Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham, and was a collaborator on the landmark CALIBRE trial. His undergraduate thesis was on the psychological factors underlying alcohol addiction.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Wood has formal training in question-writing and previously contributed to the commercial question banks, giving him a strong foundation in medical education and assessment.
